How wet has 2018 been compared to 2016 and 2017?
Despite what it felt like this past summer, 2017 was not the driest year on record. 2017 was the 5th driest year on record. The total rainfall equivalent in 2017 was 1,283 mm. The driest year on record was 2008 at 1,154 mm.
2016 was the 4th wettest year on record at 1,755 mm. The wettest year on record was 1995 at 1,957 mm.
Half way through 2016 there was 837 mm of rain and halfway through 2018 there has been 829 mm. 2018 is following 2016 in lock step so far, as you can see in the graph above.
