Theatre Quadra will present the classic musical ‘SOUTH PACIFIC’ at the Quadra Island Community Centre on Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th at 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, November 18th at 2:15 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes early. Tickets are $20 (students $15), available at Inspirations, Works of H'Art, The Music Plant and at the door.

Set on a tropical island during World War II, the play explores racial prejudice in paradise, as combat rages nearby. Marine lieutenant Joe Cable (Guy Holmes) flies in on a mission that could change the course of the war. He needs the help of French planter Emile de Becque (Ken Burns), who is romantically entangled with Navy nurse Nellie Forbush (Barb Clark). Islander Bloody Mary (Mary Bedard Green) becomes a strong ally of Cable.

The cast is a vibrant bunch of TQ veterans and talented newcomers. They are working and playing under the watchful eyes of Director Linda Lolacher, Music Director Kate Alexandra and Choreographer Heidi Ridgway.

First produced on Broadway in 1949, ‘South Pacific’ was a smash hit, winning ten Tony Awards. The original cast album was the best-selling record of the 1940's. It features many memorable tunes, including "There Is Nothing Like a Dame", "Some Enchanted Evening", "Bali Ha'i" and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair".

So, set sail with Theatre Quadra in November for the sunny, song-filled South Pacific!
