Learn about Linnaea & Get Springtime Gardening Tips

The Quadra Island Garden Club presents an educational and entertaining slide show and talk entitled “THE LINNAEA FARM & GARDEN STORY" with special guest speakers Tamara McPhail Adam Schick on Monday, March 11 at 7 pm at Quadra Community Centre.

Learn all about Linnaea and get valuable springtime permaculture gardening tips from these two dedicated eco-educators. Garden club members are free; $3 for visitors.

As partners in life and co-teachers at Linnaea Garden School, Adam & Tamara are also resident land stewards at Linnaea on Cortes Island. They will share stories about the historical and present importance of Linnaea as a learning centre for all levels of farmers and gardeners.

Tamara and Adam have been living on Cortes Island and farming at Linnaea Farm with their two daughters since 2000. As passionate farmers and educators, they divide their time between administration, rotational grazing cattle, marketing, organizing workshops, sheep herding and growing food. Their expertise in production gardening is evident in the delectable array of fresh vegetables they grow and sell.

ABOUT LINNAEA FARM: An Ecological Oasis
Linnaea farm is a 314 acre organic land trust stewarded by five families dedicated to sustainable agriculture and education. It is the largest piece of agricultural land on Cortes. With ample experience in the selection of seeds best suited to our islands, Adam and Tamara will share their knowledge on how to grow a productive and varied spring garden. As stated on their website: “The world is starved for people with the ability to enrich the planet while improving soil and the human ecology.”
