On April 1st thegumboot.ca turned one! To celebrate we’ve teamed up with Shane Philip for a Gumboot Dance & CD Launch on April 12th at the Quadra Community Centre. Shane will be playing up a storm as usual as he introduces us to tracks from his fab new CD ‘In The Moment’, as well as wowing us with the energy of our old favourites. We of the ‘boot love a good launch and will be adding some extra fuel to the occasion with fun for all the family….

Between 7 and 9 pm the events and music will be geared towards the kids (under 12s are free). We’ll be rewarding the funkiest of your decorated gumboots (tip: all boot-artists, make sure you have your supporters along as we shall be awarding prizes based on the audience’s ‘Stomp of Approval’ ….the louder they stomp, the better for you!), teaching you the Gumboot Dance, and just plain ol’ dancing crazy with hula-hoops, balloons and more! Oh, and don’t forget to enter the gumboot colouring competition for the chance to win more prizes.

As bed-time kicks in for the youngsters its time for the older crowd to pick up the dance…. and for those adult-types that are too shy to take to the floor without a beer inside, the bar opens at 9pm! There will still be a ton of dancing to do, so bring your best energy, and prepare for it be boosted up on high by Shane’s incredible beats!
