Big Bay, Stuart Island, BCThis bylaw, if adopted, would allow a temporary industrial use permit (TIUP) for two test drill mining sites and a base camp near Bute Inlet. The purpose of the TIUP is to ensure that the exploration does not negatively affect tourism and environmental values. A Notice of Work and Reclamation Program has been filed with the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources under file number 0801078.
A copy of the proposed bylaw and related information may be viewed at the regional district offices at 600 Comox Road, Courtenay, BC between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays from Monday, April 28, 2008 until Friday, May 9, 2008 or at
www.strathconard.ca.
Anyone who believes the proposed bylaw will affect their interests will be given an opportunity to speak at the public hearing.
Legally, the SRD cannot consider any representations made after the close of the public hearing. If you cannot attend the public hearing, all written submissions, mailed or electronic, must be received by this office no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008.
