New energy is fuelling the planning for Halloween Fun Night at the Quadra Community Centre on October 31. A “luminara” contest, Tomas the magician, games, haunted house, bon fire and fireworks are in the making. But wait, what is luminara and what can I win, you say. It is a gathering of imaginative creations made of tissue paper, wire, stick, etc. with lights inside. The form is up to the creator and magic is made when all the different creations are lit up. (We will use led lights, not candles.). As for the prize, we are offering a cash prize for the best childrens' and adult lanterns. This Halloween will be just a hint of what we could do, if this idea takes off. Come to the free workshop, Sunday October 26 at 2:00-4:30 in room1 and see what it is all about. Register at 285 3243 so we know how many people to prepare for. Basic materials will be supplied but feel free to bring any special items like leaves, fancy papers, and sparkly stuff. Then on Halloween night, all the forms will be hung up on the south side patio area for all to view. A big thank you goes to the Quadra Builders Supply for supporting the new luminara contest and workshop. We couldn’t do it without you! Check out these web sites or google luminara for more info.
