On Saturday, December 6, at the Quadra Community Centre, Sierra Quadra presents Energy Perspectives: Arthur Caldicott on Run-of-River and Tidal Power in BC
Arthur Caldicott's primary interest is energy: its economics, environmental impacts, policies and technologies. His presentations focus on energy issues and projects that may have an impact on communities and the environment.
Through his research, writing and public speaking, he provides a perspective on energy projects that is not likely to be heard from government or project proponents.

This is not Arthur's first visit to Quadra Island. Since 2000 he has spoken on Quadra, in Campbell River, and in many other communities on Vancouver Island on proposals as varied as: a second natural gas pipeline to Vancouver
Island (the GSX Pipeline), gas-fired generation facilities (culminating in the defeat of the Duke Point Power plan in Nanaimo), coalbed methane development, liquefied natural gas imports, coal-fired electricity generation, small hydro generation, and tide and wave energy.

On Saturday, December 6, at the Quadra Community Centre, Arthur will be speaking at an event sponsored by Sierra Quadra. Doors open at 7:00 pm with the presentation starting at 7:30. The theme of the event is small hydro and independent power production. One or two short films will be shown and
Arthur's presentation will broaden the perspective, with a brief overview of provincial energy issues and a closer look at small hydro and tidal projects in the vicinity of Quadra Island. Time for discussion will be scheduled, and refreshments will be available. Door Prize: A copy of “Liquid Gold: Energy Privatization in British Columbia”.
