Sylvie
I would like to hear suggestions on how we could go about banning plastic bags distribution from our 2 main grocery stores OR if not banning, charging a fair sum for each bag that could be donated back to a community project (ie:playground or community soup etc.) It would be very timely to start this before the tourists season. This would put Quadra on the map on this particular issue and could also generate a fair amount to donate were we to choose that route.
This simple change seems long overdue for our community.
Comments or ideas please?
Well Done Heriot Bay Store!

Thanks Sylvie for your idea. I do think that there are many options out there that should be explored in the fight against conventional plastic bags (e.g. biodegradable plastic)....
Also, kudos to the Heriot Bay Tru-Value store which has introduced its own long-lasting shopping bags. These can be bought at the store (for only a few bucks each) or seem to come free with larger purchases. Good on you HBS!!
