Women were in the extreme minority among the first Euro-Canadian settlers on the Discovery Islands. Their isolation imposed hardships not experienced by their urban counterparts, but it also opened new opportunities. Jeanette Taylor will give a digital slide presentation about island women of the past at Quadra Community Centre at 7:00 p.m. on February 16.

Taylor's talk draws upon her new book, "Tidal Passages, a History of the Discovery Islands". Admission is by donation, to benefit the Centre's playground, and refreshments will be served, with proceeds going to a young mother in need.
